Political Office

Westonaria Local Municipality is a mayoral executive system combined with a ward participatory system. It consists of 29 councillors, made up of 15 ward councillors and 14 proportional representative councillors. The Speaker is responsible for the effective operation of the 15 ward committees.

The Executive Mayor is assisted by five mayoral committee members in discharging council duties. The members chair the following portfolio committees:

• Community Services
• Corporate Services
• Financial Services
• Human Settlements
• Infrastructure Development and Planning

The Executive Mayor
Cllr Maserame Khumalo is the Executive Mayor of Westonaria. She is now serving her second term as the Executive Mayor of the town. The Executive Mayor has committed herself to ensuring that service delivery leads to sustainable development and ensuring that Westonaria Local Municipality is a well-governed, developmental-oriented municipality.
