We will be praying for peace, drug abuse, crime and a good quality of life for all. Come one come all.
Westonaria Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Councilor Nonkoliso Tundzi provided 274 solar lights to all Westonaria Matriculants on Sunday, 25 October 2015, at the event held at municipality Banquet Hall.
The main aim of the event was to pray, support and motivate Grade Twelve Leaners before they write their final examinations. More importantly, as the Executive Mayor said in her speech the main purpose was to dispense solar lights to both informal and informal settlement learners as electricity plays a crucial part in the education of learners, since most study at night after a day at school.
“The expansion of the country’s power grid is vital for upgrading informal settlement and giving poor students the change to succeed, the Mayor added”.
“Though we have seen power outage have lessen, it is important that all students have alternative lights in the event there is electricity cuts and outages, said the Mayor”.
“It is not through my wisdom but by the grace of God that I am where I am today. Respect your parents. Respect your teachers. Always stay humble. Do not lose hope in life,” she said.
Councilor Tundzi told learners to always trust God. “God won’t fail you. He will help you to attain the objectives you set for yourself. Never stop working hard in pursuing your dreams. You will make it,” the Mayor said.
The onus is now on you to work hard and strive to achieve a 100 percent matric pass rate,” she concludes. Last year, Westonaria achieved 78, 69 percent matric pass rate.
The event was attended by Motivational Speaker and Writer, Jacky Phamotsi grew up in Libanon as well as Tebogo Tlhapi, a well-known Engineer from Bekkersdal who gave inspirational message and five (5) books to learners.
